Buick unveils the Electra E4, a coupe-SUV for China

The new Buick Electra E4 may be the manufacturer’s sportier alternative to the recently introduced E5 SUV, AutoHome.cn believes. It is slated to go on sale soon priced between 200,000 and 300,000 Yuan.

At the front end, the E4 resembles the E5 save for the mildly redesigned headlights and a different radiator grille pattern. It does have a different body shape with a slanted roof and a new rear. The wheelbase is the same at 2,954, but the coupe version is shorter than the SUV at 4,818 versus 4,892 mm. It is also around 100 mm less tall.

The interior is almost all the same. The seats, the steering wheel, the transmission tunnel, the HVAC and the 30-inch display are all exactly as we saw them in the E5. The front panel is mildly different and the door panels no longer have seat adjustment buttons on them – but that’s about it for the differences.

In all likelihood, the entry-level spec will utilize a single electric motor on the front axle with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) at its disposal. A higher spec will get dual motors rated 194 PS (191 hp / 143 kW) at the front and 92 PS (91 hp / 68 kW) at the back. The driving range remains unknown, but the Electra E5 is rated for 620 km (385 miles) in its longest-range version.

The standard trim spec includes a Snapdragon-powered infotainment unit with OTA and 5G support, an ambient lighting system with 121 colors to choose from, a two-zone climate control and a panoramic roof 1.2 square meters (12.9 square feet) large.

The exact launch date has not been announced yet.
