Überblick
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has announced a major investment into its factory in the country of Uzbekistan that should enable it to churn out much more EVs in the coming years.
The BYD Uzbekistan Factory was commissioned this summer and currently operates at a base capacity of 50,000 EVs per year. It makes Chazor sedans and Song Plus Champion SUVs. Once the Stage II upgrade is complete, the capacity will reach 200,000 EVs/year. This necessitates around 300,000,000 USD in investment, BYD says.
That’s not the limit, though. Should the demand continue strong in China, the factory may be upgraded further to Stage III. It will then become one of the world’s leading sites in terms of EV production with a projected annual rate of 500,000 units.
