Meet Cadillac Optiq, a $54k EV with not so much going for it

Cadillac has added another electric vehicle to its lineup – the mid-size SUV called Optiq. Built on the same GM Ultium platform as the upmarket Lyriq model, it is set to reach production this fall and go on sale in the United States priced from $54,000.

The new crossover is comparable in size to the Chevrolet Equinox EV and draws design inspiration from the abovementioned Lyriq. Chances are good you have already seen all these photos during the extended promo campaign.

The Optiq is an AWD vehicle by design and delivers 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) to the wheels along with up to 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It packs 85 kilowatt-hours of energy storage like the company’s other EVs, but the actual range remains to be measured. Cadillac only says that you can get 127 km (79 miles) of range from 10 minutes of charging.

The base trim level includes the Super Cruise package granting Level 2 autonomy, a 33-inch main display, a 19-speaker audio system and other premium features.
