Cadillac XT4 will switch from gas to diesel turbo for Europe

The Cadillac XT4 will launch in Europe next year – but while its U.S. counterpart, which has been available since last summer, is gas-powered, this one is not.

Specifically, both the USA and China variants of the SUV ship with the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine rated at 240 hp (179 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The Europe-spec XT4 ditches this mill in favor of a 2.0-liter diesel one good for 170 hp (127 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The nine-speed automatic transmission will remain in place, though, and customers will get a choice between FWD and AWD.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, numerous driver aids, an infotainment system with an 8-inch display and 3D satellite navigation, all-around cameras, and various heating/power options as per the tradition.

Prices will start from €43,000. A higher trim will be available for €49,000 with sports-themed décor and larger, 20-inch wheels. An option package, consisting of a sunroof and leather-bound, ventilated and massaged seats, will be on offer as well.
