Changan/Huawei’s new EV presents cabin

Changan has posted the official images of a new electric car coming to its Deepal/Shenlan range. It is called the L07 and looks closely related to the Deepal SL03 already on sale in China (see video).

The launch date is pending. In the meantime, AutoHome.cn discovered the car’s main technical specifications in the country’s Ministry of Industry database. It is sized 4,875 x 1,890 x 1,480 mm large with 2.9 meters of wheelbase. As such, it is 55 mm (2 inches) longer than the Deepal SL03, but otherwise completely identical. It even looks the same except for some front-end trim. The body is that of a five-door liftback.

Things look much more different and interesting in the cabin. The L07 has a different transmission tunnel layout with two wireless chargers and an added control panel with three round dials. The dashboard also looks thoroughly redesigned and lacks an instrument cluster, resulting in a clean and laconic look. The middle display seems larger than that of the SL03, and the three-spoke steering wheel is new, too.

Changan has so far registered two powertrains for the L07 – range-extender hybrid and all-electric. The former uses an electric motor rated at 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) for propulsion and a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 98 PS (97 hp / 72 kW) to generate electricity. The all-electric variant relies on a single 252-PS (249-hp / 185-kW) motor.
