Check out Cupra’s latest design preview

The Cupra Tindaya Concept is a Targa-style vehicle with a markedly aggressive appearance and lots of new styling cues that the company says will later find their way into its production cars. Whether there will be a car exactly like this concept is unknown, though, so we are going to assume it’s just a design study.

The name Tindaya comes from a volcano situated on the Canary Islands. True to its moniker, the SUV has a fiery temper emphasized by its chaotic geometry full of triangles and edges. The wheels in the arches are 23 inches large and covered with decorative mesh, while the front bumper is packed full of backlit trim bits.

A Y-shaped insert in the roof can be removed along with the two panels it connects, converting the SUV into a Targa. At 4,720 mm (184.4 inches) long, the Tindaya Concept is 135 mm (5.3 inches) longer than the latest Toyota RAV4.

The interior design is every bit as edgy and triangular as the exterior. The steering wheel is yoke-shaped, all four seats are styled as racing buckets, and there is a giant 24-inch dash display before the driver. The center console accommodates a prism-like element called Jewel, which Cupra claims plays a key role in its latest touch-based UI. The infotainment system remains to be unveiled, but we already know that it connects to a Sennheiser speaker set.
