Chery eQ7 gets a new name in China

The all-electric mid-size SUV known as the Chery eQ7 will go on domestic sale under the name ‘Shuxiangjia’, which roughly means ‘comfortable’. It will be available starting tomorrow, September 12, from 143,900 Yuan, CarNewsChina reports.

The media expected the eQ7 to complement the manufacturer’s existing eQ car lineup and be available alongside the existing eQ5 model. However, it now looks like Chery intends to phase out the old eQ5 with the new eQ7, allegedly because the former had too unusual of an appearance and sold poorly as a result. Its production reportedly stopped last year, but with only 56 units sold in 2023, the stock still hasn’t run out.

The new Chery Shuxiangjia is very similar to the eQ5 in terms of both size and specifications while looking much more up-to-date. It is 4,675 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall with 2,830 mm between the axles and uses a single electric motor rated at 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW). The traction battery stores 67 kWh of power and yields 512 km (318 miles) of range.
