Chery Tiggo 3 goes turbo for the first time

The elderly Chery Tiggo 3 SUV received its fifth facelift in the summer of 2019 (see video for details), but it was not until today that it finally gained a turbo version.

The 1.5-liter four-pot rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) may not sound that exciting, but it is the most powerful engine the model has ever shipped with. It links exclusively to a CVT box and a front-wheel drive system, because Chery dropped AWD versions long ago. The standard spec includes an infotainment system, a sunroof and imitation leather on the seats.

You can already grab a Tiggo 3 with the new engine for the equivalent of U.S. $12,400. The entry spec with a 1.5-liter non-turbo, manual transmission and a basic car radio will set you back $9,300.
