Chevrolet has posted a video dedicated to its new Corvette modification coming up on January 17. If you pay attention, you will notice that the drive mode selector has a mode named Stealth. Could it be hybrid-specific?
The company has never admitted developing a part-electric Corvette so far, but some evidence strongly suggests that this will be the case soon. See how the front wheels kick up snow in the video? It looks like the new ‘Vette may debut with an IC engine driving the rear axle and an electric motor driving the front one.
If so, then the Stealth Mode might be simply a mode for silent all-electric driving. The driver in the video switches to it when leaving a snowy highway for a city street.
Then there is the motto, ‘One Like None’, which also seems like a clear hint. After all, no Corvettes have received hybrid powertrains until now.
The new modification of the sports car unexpectedly cropped up in the Configurator early last month before the manufacturer realized the error and pulled it from publication. Thanks to users who made screenshots, we now know that it was named ‘Corvette E-Ray’.
Stay tuned for the full reveal on next Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
