Chevrolet has refreshed its Silverado HD model, keeping the looks intact (see video) while improving its towing capacity and expanding the range of trim versions.
The rear-wheel driven Silverado 3500 HD Work Truck Regular Cab equipped with twin rear wheels, a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo diesel rated at 451 hp (337 kW) and 1,234 Nm (910 lb-ft) of torque, a ten-speed automatic transmission and the Max Tow package can now tow up to 16,329 kilograms (35,800 pounds). This represents an improvement of 227 kg (500 lbs) over the pre-facelift version. As an added bonus, the trailer assist system also works better than before.
The LTZ trim level spins off a new limited run called the Silverado HD Carhartt Special Edition. Co-designed with special clothing designer Carhartt, it rocks body-matched bumpers and grille, chrome details, a Mosaic Black Metallic paintjob with a thin yellow Carhartt stripe running along the body, a tent and 20-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires. The seats inside are wrapped in perforated leather dyed Jet Black and Carhartt Brown, stylishly stitched together and adorned with Carhartt logos.
The other new trims – Midnight Edition, Z71 Sport Edition and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition – boil down to special combinations of exterior paint scheme and interior décor. Aside from that, changes were made in the existing trims and two more colors – Cherry Red и Mosaic Black – have been added to the palette.
Sales will begin later this fall.
