New Citroen C5 Aircross revealed in Europe

Citroen has completely unveiled the second generation of the C5 Aircross.

The new SUV is based on the same STLA platform as the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. It is 150 mm (roughly 6 inches) longer than its predecessor, has 60 mm (2.4”) more wheelbase but otherwise stays the same size. Wheels are available in sizes up to 20 inches, and the ground clearance is a solid 200 mm (7.8”).

Buyers are choosing from two EV and two hybrid powertrains this time around. The cheapest version gets a 1.2-liter engine and a small-time electric motor integrated in the car’s preselector DCT. It churns out 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW). Paying extra gets you a 1.6-liter engine and a more powerful electric engine rated at 125 PS (123 hp / 93 kW) in a plug-in hybrid setup. Their combined output amounts to 195 PS (192 hp / 143 kW), while a 21-kWh battery pack on board yields up to 86 km (53.4 miles) of electric range.

If you want a “pure” EV, there are two options with 210 and 230 PS (207 and 227 hp; 154 and 169 kW, respectively). The former has a 73-kWh battery pack and 520 km (323 miles) of range, while the latter benefits from a bigger 97-kWh battery and 680 km (422 miles) of range.

There is no AWD anywhere on the list.
