The Spanish premium automaker points out that the DarkRebel exists exclusively as a virtual 3D car inside of a metaverse, but will later receive a real-world counterpart based on customer designs.
The design study is depicted with a long nose, a passenger cabin moved farther backwards than usual, a sophisticated body kit with a large splitter and a rear spoiler to match, and a giant rear diffuser. Illuminated Cupra badges can be found at both ends.
Inside, a wide console separates two bucket seats. There is a gaming steering wheel inside, as well as a mysterious hardware interface that the designers claim is supposed to ‘unite the driver and the car as one’.
Cupra has launched a whole metaverse with a virtual lab called Hyper Configurator to let its customers try on various colors and trim options while placing the concept car in a variety of environments. Once the configuration is complete, users can record and post a video with the car. Based on these designs, the company will later build a real-life car and ultimately bring it to production – albeit not without production-friendly modifications. It looks like the marque wants it to be its next flagship EV.
