De Tomaso Pantera with a GT-style body kit sells for $116k

The production of the famous De Tomaso Pantera sports car began in Italy in 1971 and went on for 22 years. One of the earliest made examples has now changed hands for U.S. $116,000 despite its numerous modifications.

The Pantera has historically been well-regarded for its extravagant looks and a tapering, aerodynamic body. This car is no exception, but its owner additionally had it styled after a GT5 racer. The aftermarket body kit included fender flares, side sill extensions, a rear spoiler, a front splitter and a vented bonnet. All of the above was made from glass-fiber plastic and designed to offer a fresh perspective on the Pantera exterior.

18-inch, deep concave, aluminum wheels slotted into the arches with four-piston brake calipers seen behind the spokes. The exhaust system was also replaced along with the engine. The new mill has 5.8 liters of displacement and produces more than the standard 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW), although the specifics are unknown.

The interior is black with custom dash gauges, audio system and steering wheel. The transmission is five-speed manual and sports a carbon-fiber gate.

At the moment of sale, the sports car had over 106,000 kilometers (66,000 miles) on the odo.
