Ferrari revives the F40 for a brief moment of recollection

The special project division of Ferrari has unveiled its latest creation: the SC40, a one-off supercar paying homage to the legendary F40 model discontinued three decades ago.

The modern take on the iconic classic runs on the same chassis and powertrain as the 296 GTB. At the same time, it features a distinct body with a long and squat front end and a fixed rear wing in the back. The headlights and the side intakes in particular try their best to mimic those of the F40. The white exterior is arguably the biggest detour from the original, which was only available in red. Ferrari says it developed this shade of white from scratch, along with the wheels.

The interior is largely stock 296 GTB. Carbon and Kevlar fiber found on the steering wheel, the dashboard and the space behind the seats are the only immediately recognizable references to the original supercar.

The Ferrari SC40 has been exhibited at the automaker’s Maranello museum since October 18, 2025. It packs a standard 3.0-liter V6 with a hybrid system increasing its output to 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW). As far as we understand, it is a one-off commission from an anonymous client, so it will likely land in a private collection once the exhibition time runs out.
