Ferrari Purosangue tests continue

Not long ago, we saw Ferrari’s first SUV Purosangue running winter tests in Northern Europe. Today, a prototype has been spotted on naked asphalt.

Technically, the car is still a test mule hidden under the body of a Maserati Levante – note especially the telltale headlights, hood cover, flared fenders, and quad exhaust tips.

The platform, however, is all new. The engine is mounted behind the front axle, and there is a dual-clutch automatic transmission at the rear end. All-wheel drive and hybrid systems are natively supported, and an electrified V12 version of the SUV is expected in the future.

Based on the images, the Ferrari SUV rides on air suspension, but we wouldn’t count on it being a particularly off-road-friendly design with plenty of ground clearance.

Sales in the United States could begin in late 2022 or early 2023.
