Spied: 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline or not?

We have seen the new Ford Expedition running road tests many times, including even its hybrid version. However, today’s example appears quite special and different from the rest.

First, the car rides slightly higher than usual. This is especially evident at the rear – note also the thicker lower arms.

Second, the engine appears to be protected by a plate. Third, most importantly, the front wheels are different and correspond to those we have seen on the Ford Explorer timberline in January.

What could be under the hood? Judging by the dual exhaust tips, there could be a 3.5-liter V6 rated above 400 PS (395 hp / 295 kW). Time will tell.
