Ford Explorer gets an update in the USA

Ford North America has properly introduced the 2025 Explorer lineup, so let’s have a look.

The refreshed crossover SUV sports a larger radiator grille the design of which depends on the trim level. It also has different head- and taillights along with revised bumpers. Wheels come in sizes ranging from 18 to 21 inches, and there is a new exterior color available: Vapor Blue Metallic.

Inside, the entire dashboard has been redesigned. The new Explorer is Ford’s first vehicle to take advantage of an innovative infotainment system called Digital Experience, said to be five times as powerful as the old generation. It comes loaded with Google services and offers Google Assistant for all your voice communication needs, but you are actually allowed to choose a different assistant (e.g., Amazon Alexa).

The digital dash screen is 12.3 inches large and the infotainment display is 13.2 inches across (up from 10.1 inches in the old generation). Heated front seats, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and a Ford Co-Pilot 360 assist package are all included in the base trim, as is a power tailgate and eight USB ports. Blue Cruise semi-autonomous driving system is a subscription-only option.

For the engine, you can stick with the old 2.3-liter turbo four-pot rated at 305 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) or 3.0-liter V6 churning out 406 PS (400 hp / 299 kW). Both are linked to the same ten-speed automatic transmission and drive the rear wheels; AWD is a paid option.

There are four trim levels called Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. The cheapest one starts at $41,200 (previously $38,485). Pre-orders are already available, but actual deliveries won’t start until Q2 2024.
