Ford teases the Mustang Mk7, seems like you still can row your own gears

Ford has posted the first teaser image of the seventh-generation Mustang, complete with a rather transparent hint that the pony will be available with manual transmission.

Look closer at the letter ‘o’ in ‘Generation’ to see a six-speed manual shift pattern inside. While not official, it is a dead giveaway that the company plans to keep manual on offer for those drivers who would never have the Mustang any other way.

There are several theories on what engines the Gen7 Mustang may get. One holds that it could become a mild hybrid based on the current 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder and 5.0-liter non-turbo V8 engines. Both may end up with electric motors, although a non-electrified version is also possible. Either way, the car will be produced on the same platform as the current generation with minor technical revisions.

Rumor has it that the new ‘Stang will arrive in April 2023 and be produced at the manufacturer’s Flat Rock facility. The company said it would be investing $3.7 billion into making the next-gen Mustang, upgrading multiple factories, expanding the production of its EVs (largely the F-150 Lightning and the e-Transit), and designing a new battery vehicle.
