Ford rolls out a racing-focused Mustang GT4

Ford has taken a new racing-only Mustang modification to the Spa Francorchamps track in Belgium. Called GT4, it is based on the street-legal Dark Horse spec and uses the same basic V8, albeit with improvements. No further technical details have been revealed yet.

The engine was designed upon the naturally aspirated version of the stock 5.0-liter Coyote V8 driving the wheels with 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) in the Dark Horse. Ford engineers redesigned it to comply with GT4 racing regulations and hooked it onto a new Holinger transmission with paddle shifters.

Aside from the above, the car received a revised aero kit and Multimatic DSSV hock absorbers. The same company will handle the production, but all engines will be made at the Ford factory in Dearborn.

Private racers and teams can already buy the Mustang GT4, but it makes sense to hurry up and leave a pre-order, because the production quantity is limited. The first actual track debut is expected in 2024.
