Drag Race: Mustang Cobra Jet vs. the world

We often see Ford Mustangs on the drag strip, but the Cobra Jet is a rare and formidable breed. You will not encounter one in a dealership, because Ford builds these in small numbers specifically for drag strip runs. A recent video from Drag Racing & Car Stuff channel on YouTube shows what it is capable of.

The Cobra Jet appears in multiple races throughout the video. For starters, it tackles a first-gen Mustang, proceeding to a Mustang Cobra from the early 2000s and finally to a tuned Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

The first race sees both participants nail the start, but the Cobra Jet nears the finish line faster than its rival, crossing it in 9.18 seconds at 212.4 km/h (132 mph). Its rival finishes barely behind in 9.36 seconds.

Next up is a Dodge Challenger Hellcat with a parachute at the back. Both cars pop wheelies at the launch, but the Cobra Jet manages to recover first and snatches the victory in 9.19 seconds. The Challenger isn’t too far behind with a time of 9.37 seconds.

Finally, another Mustang comes in for the big showdown, tuned to the hilt and thirsting for blood. We will not spoil the outcome, but it should probably be mentioned that both cars crossed the line around the 9.1-second mark. Which one was the winner? Watch and find out!
