The Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT has revealed Geely Galaxy E8, a production car based on the Galaxy Light Concept (see video). The sedan is five meters long and has only one electric motor driving the rear wheels, although other options may be added later, CarNewsChina reports.
Coming in at 5,010 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,465 mm tall with 2,925 between the axles, the E8 is a business-class sedan. The curb weight is specified as 2,030 kilograms (4,475 pounds). Depending on the spec, the tires can be sized 235/50 R18 or 245/45 R19.
The rear end resembled the Porsche Panamera a bit with its rounded appearance and a thin continuous taillight. Other than that, it looks much like any other saloons and liftbacks introduced in China lately.
The motor draws power from a Geely battery and produces 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). It looks like Geely produces the entire EV and all of its constituent parts in-house for substantial cost cuts.
Media in China speculate that the E8 may cost from 200,000 Yuan (27,300 USD) when it goes on sale.
