General Motors has joined efforts with EarthCruiser to design a motorhome with the all-electric GMC Hummer EV at its base. The model will be revealed in detail at the Overland Expo Mountain West starting tomorrow, but it will not go on sale until next year.
The living space resides inside a carbon-fiber hull and has a pop-up roof. It offers a full-size bed, a water boiler, a kitchenette, a few power sockets, and a toilet. There is also a shower than can be used inside or outside, as well as hang-on boxes for gear and tools. A touch panel provides centralized access to all electronic systems on board.
A 605W solar panel on the roof feeds a 12V battery on board. The companies behind the project claim a full charge can keep the electric appliances running for seven days straight.
