GMC has unveiled its next all-electric pickup truck, the Sierra EV, which will hit the showroom floors in early 2024 and join the incredible Hummer EV in the company’s portfolio. The range-topping Denali Edition 1 will go on sale first priced from U.S. $108,695, but there will be other, more affordable variants later on.
Like its close relative, the Silverado EV, the truck features a unitized body with an Ultium battery built into the frame. The range on a maxed-out battery amounts to 644 km (400 miles), and owners can replenish 161 km (100 miles)’ worth of range within just 10 minutes. The manufacturer even claims the car can keep essential household appliances functioning through a three-week blackout by sharing its power with externally plugged devices.
As for the propulsion, the powertrain consists of two electric motors jointly rated at 765 PS (754 hp / 562 kW). The AWD is permanent, and the car only needs 4.5 seconds to reach 60 mph (97 km/h) from standstill in the fastest mode. Air-ride suspension can lower and raise the body by up to 50 mm (2 inches), and a special mode called Crabwalk helps sidle through narrow streets and off-road trails.
Inside, a 16.8-inch display installed in portrait orientation dominates the front panel, with another 11.8-inch screen positioned behind the wheel and a colorful HUD projected onto the windshield. The Denali spec adds luxury trim materials, including wood and aluminum, and comes loaded with features like Super Cruise, panoramic sunroof, surround view cameras, Bose audio, and more.
