Honda teased us the all-electric Prologue SUV back in 2021 and followed up with some sketches this spring, but this is the first time we are seeing its body in a video.
The four-minute footage takes us behind the stage of the Honda Design HQ in California, where the Prologue was originally conceived. It describes the development process, which apparently involved contributions from Honda employees from all over the world.
According to Marco Tan, Virtual and Digital Graphics Designer at the HQ, the team visualized the car in a computer-generated, but very life-like environment. The designers were then able to apply various finishes, materials and even lighting schemes to the car in this 3D environment to see what worked and what didn’t, resulting in a higher standard of exterior design.
Interestingly enough, the video also showcases from all angles what it essentially a life-size clay mockup of the car. Apparently, car designers still use these for real-life design experiments. The version shown in the video looks dramatically different from all Honda cars of today, though, so one has to doubt whether it will make it into production.
More information on the Prologue EV will follow in the coming months, Honda says, adding that sales are scheduled to begin in 2024.
