Hyundai is considering launching a new sports car based on its N Vision 74 Concept (in the gallery and video below). According to CarBuzz, this is evidenced by the company’s recent trademark application for ‘N 74’: looks like the reference to the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe will be preserved in the production car name.
The automaker had already commented on the prospects producing the N Vision 74 before, but the comments from different company representatives contradicted each other. Even now that the N 74 nameplate has been registered, there is no guarantee that a car like this will ever be actually made.
Still, some of Hyundai’s earlier patent applications concerning certain load-bearing parts of the car body and frameless doors suggest that the Korean automaker may be serious about the N Vision 74.
CarBuzz believes that the final decision will be made based on the market performance of the all-electric Ioniq 5 N. And while the N Vision 74 is a modern car, it will have a distinctly retro-inspired design if it reaches the assembly line.
As for the powertrain, we would not be surprised if it came from the Ioniq 5 N mentioned above.
