The current-gen Hyundai Creta has been on sale in India for three years now (see video), and now, a facelift version of it has been spotted on the streets of South Korea.
Our assumption is that the new Creta will be seriously redesigned with nods to the latest Tucson and Palisade SUVs. There will be three powertrain options, including a diesel one – it’s actually the one spotted testing. Note the sticker on the fender saying ‘SU2i’: ‘SU’ is the Creta factory designation, while ‘i’ means ‘India’.
The facelift will bring along an ADAS package similar to that of its platform twin, Kia Seltos, as well as surround view cameras, original taillights and redesigned bumpers. Local media claim it will ship with three 1.5-liter engine options – a petrol non-turbo rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 86 kW), a diesel turbo with the same power rating, and a petrol turbo capable of 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW). The latter is available for the Seltos as well.
Insiders are reporting that all pricing details will be available in February, while the production will begin in India in mid-January. An all-electric Creta is also expected to follow its ICE counterparts next year. It could wind up with an Ioniq 5-like exterior and go on sale in 2025 or later; there is still no official information.
