Three-row SUVs and crossovers are all the rage in the United States right now, with nearly every car brand on the market either already selling some or getting ready to do so. For Hyundai, the upcoming all-electric Ioniq 7 fits the bill – and it has now been spotted on the streets.
The battery SUV is based on Kia EV9 (see video) and shares its E-GMP platform. A look at the spy shots makes the similarities clear: the bodywork and the roofline are nearly identical between the two. The front end is where things go differently for the Ioniq 7.
According to an earlier statement by Hyundai, the Ioniq 7 will offer us a ‘completely new dimension of space’ thanks to its extended wheelbase. Reusing the Kia EV9 platform means there will be at least drivetrain options to choose from, including two single-motor and one dual-motor.
