Next-gen Hyundai Palisade revealed in official photos

Here are the first pics of the next generation of Hyundai’s Palisade crossover.

Compared to its predecessor (see video), the newcomer looks more understated and restrained overall with its rounded corners. That said, the company argues that new body proportions result in a bolder, sportier look. The dimensions remain to be announced, but we already know that the wheelbase is longer and the front overhang is shorter in the new generation.

A look at the front end reveals a completely new radiator grille with horizontal bars and enormous DRLs. Their light patters are likewise horizontal, while the main headlights are squeezed in between the grille and the DRLs. The sides are no longer stamped at the glass level, and there are new accents above the wheel arches. The c-pillars flaunt some chrome trim, and wheels come in sizes up to 21 inches.

The interior looks more geometrical thanks to a redesigned dashboard and a lack of a traditional center console. The main display unit consists of two 12.3-inch touchscreens, but the new Palisade retains its physical buttons and switches for those who’d rather have tactile feedback.

Arguably the biggest change comes in the form of an added middle front seat (paid option). It disguises itself as the transmission tunnel, but has a back that you can pop up. When folded down, it provides access to USB ports, cup holders and a wireless charging pad.

The second seat row also comes in multiple variants to choose from. Those who need as many seats as possible can get nine – that’s on par with some larger minivans.
