Next-gen Hyundai Verna bows in India

The Indian branch of Hyundai has unveiled the new generation of its Verna sedan, also known as the Accent or the Solaris. We have already seen the car inside and out, but this is the first time the company talks specs.

The new saloon is 130 mm longer, 6 mm taller and 36 mm wider than its predecessor with 70 mm of added wheelbase. This results in more trunk space and interior legroom. As for the exterior styling, the Verna now resembles other, more expensive Hyundai cars thanks to multi-tier headlights, heavily sculpted bodywork, a parametric radiator grille and linked taillights.

In its flagship trim level, the new Solaris gets two-tone eco-leather upholstery, merged digital dash and infotainment screens (10.25 inches of diagonal size each), climate control and other premium options. There are even smart driving assists enabling Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.

Buyers in India will be able to get their car with a 1.5-liter ICE drivetrain rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and a turbocharged variant of the same engine good for 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW). Prices begin from 1,089,900 Indian Rupees.
