Rumor: LR Baby Defender coming in two years’ time

Another portion of rumors has arrived, claiming that a downsized, affordably priced version of the Land Rover Defender is slated to arrive in 2022.

It is reported that the compact SUV will look just like the regular Defender (peek inside our gallery and watch the video if you need a reminder), but only come in a five-door version with a seriously trimmed-down interior. The lack of premium options will allegedly enable it to come in at around £25,000, a sizeable discount from the full version’s £42,920.

What remains unknown is the name of the car, which the rumor claims will be completely new.

The urban compact will ship with a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder and front-wheel drive only. AWD may become available later at a premium, and a PHEV variant should also emerge eventually.
