Lexus has approved its LBX Morizo RR Concept into production, with preordering already available in Japan.
Coming in at 4,190 mm (163.7 in) long, 1,840 mm (71.9 in) wide and 1,535 mm (60 in) tall, the car is only marginally wider and less tall than the concept it is based upon. The wheelbase still amounts to 2,580 mm (100.8 inches), and the tires are sized 235/45 R19 at both ends.
A G16E-GTS turbo three-cylinder borrowed from the Toyota GR Yaris manages to produce 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) from its paltry 1.6 liters of displacement. The car sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds.
Buyers can choose between 8AT and “intelligent” 6MT for the transmission, but reinforced brakes and improved all-wheel-drive system are already included in both versions.
In its most basic guise, the SUV features enhanced noise proofing that Toyota claims is “comfortable even in racing mode”. The front suspension arms take advantage of a system named REDS for maximum damping precision. Yellow brake calipers and other styling bits like that are available as paid options.
In addition to all this, the LBX Morizo RR sports new bumpers and rides on 19-inch forged wheels. Trim accents all around serve to highlight its low center of gravity. The interior greets the driver with aluminum pedals and Styrofoam-padded front seats that should keep their occupants seated firmly through fast curves.
Only 100 examples will be made, and the company is arranging a lottery to determine who gets to buy them.
