Mazda CX-5 getting another generation in 2025

Mazda seems reluctant to retire its CX-5 crossover SUV despite working on a number of upmarket alternatives, Drive.au reports citing Mazda Australia Marketing Director Alastair Doak. According to him, the next generation will go on sale in 2025.

Speaking in the interview, Doak said the CX-5 was enjoying brisk demand and was even considered the company’s best-selling crossover SUV in the entire lineup. As such, ditching it would be illogical at best.

In all likelihood, the model will make a transition to the automaker’s recently designed RWD platform already powering some of the latest Mazdas. It will continue to be available with four-cylinder engines and a choice between 2WD and 4WD versions. A hybrid might also make it into the lineup, although the details remain unknown.
