Mazda has published another video in its ‘Unboxing’ series dedicated to the CX-90 premiere coming up tomorrow. The large SUV was once again teased through individual trim elements and materials.
The cabin uses neutral trim hues – light grey and cream. According to the designers, the driver needs to stay focused on their emotional connection with the car and its controls, so vivid materials would just be distracting.
Speaking of materials: the footage previews some fabric upholstery, some leather and wood-looking panels actually made from a wear-resistant Stoneform plastic. Special stitching inspired by traditional Japanese art helps bring the various elements together. The conventional hardware buttons and knobs are in place, too, to the joy of everyone who cannot stand touchscreens.
The video also briefly previews an Artisan Red exterior of the car that changes hues depending on the light fall angle. Mazda argues that the vivid contrast between the bright exterior and the subdued interior is supposed to make you want to get inside and drive – as soon as possible.
