Mercedes-AMG One is not coming to the USA, company says

You will be able to import the AMG One unofficially, but driving it on public roads in North America will be problematic at best.

According to Carscoops referencing an official statement of the manufacturer, the racing-spec engine under the hood of the AMG One makes it difficult to make street-legal in the United States. All potential clients in the country who were interested in buying the hypercar have already been notified to the effect.

Mercedes claims that adapting a Formula One engine for road use had presented nearly insurmountable technological difficulties. The company was able to overcome these difficulties, but in a way that was only viable in the legislation of Europe. Tweaking the six-cylinder mill to be compliant with the requirements of the USA would have affected its performance in a way the engineering crew deemed unacceptable. As such, all sales will be limited to Europe.

Collectors and Mercedes aficionados may still import the AMG One on the Show and Display basis. With this type of customs clearance, the vehicle will be restricted to 2,500 miles (4,023 kilometers) of road-legal range per year. Examples of cars imported to the USA on this basis include the Koenigsegg One:1 and the McLaren Speedtail, among others.
