HWA previews its Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II continuation series

HWA AG, a company based in Affalterbach, Germany and headed by ex-AMG co-founder Hans Aufrecht, has released the first photos of its ambitious project dedicated to the revival of the Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II. Only 100 such cars, called ‘HWA Evo’, will be made and sold starting from eye-watering €714,000.

The technical parameters remain to be revealed. The exterior of the car closely resembles that of its source of inspiration, but comes across as more aggressive thanks to an impressive body kit, strongly flared fenders and a bulky rear wing. A closer look reveals custom lighting all around, a blacked-out grille and six-spoke wheels.

In an earlier announcement, the company revealed that the whole batch will be based on the stock Mercedes-Benz W201. In all likelihood, the tuner will transfer the W201 body onto a custom chassis and reinforce it to comply with the modern standards. The engine plans remain a mystery, but HWA promises us ‘cutting edge technology’, so a high-end petrol unit is the most likely candidate.

Before starting the project, HWA used to design custom Mercedes-Benz racecars. It has produced several GT2 and GT3-compliant vehicles, most notably the legendary CLK GTR.
