Mercedes-Benz CLA goes through its planned update

Mercedes has pushed out a facelift for the CLA sedan and estate. Both received exterior and drivetrain tweaks.

The model year 2023 brings along a new radiator grille and front bumper, LED headlights already included in the base spec, revised DRLs and new taillight patterns.

Inside, the multimedia system boasts a 10.25-inch screen (now standard instead of optional) and updated software. Combination trim and leather steering wheel are also included by default.

The manual transmission is gone and so is the lever. Starting now, the CLA is only obtainable with a DCT gearbox. Engine wise, the lineup starts with a 1.3-liter turbo version obtainable in 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) variants. Both are front-wheel-drive only.

Paying extra unlocks a 2.0-liter gas engine with either 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) or 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW). This one drives all four wheels. As for the diesels, the old 2.0-liter engine is still obtainable in 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW) and 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) versions, but it no longer links to a 4Matic system. Instead, both diesel specifications are strictly 2WD now.

The sales in Europe are scheduled to begin this spring.
