This jaw-dropping wooden G-Class is a Mitsubishi Pajero in disguise

You will be forgiven for thinking that this Mercedes-AMG G 63 is the real thing. The highly detailed wooden replica took longer than three months to make, but it is now fully functional and street-legal in Vietnam.

We have already covered quite a few stories about the talented carpenter known for his YouTube channel, ND – Woodworking Art. What initially started as a hobby of building wooden car replicas for his kids has evolved into a whole business. The replicas are all richly detailed, properly proportioned and invariably made of natural materials. This G-Class is arguably the most sophisticated one to date, though.

Starting with a Mitsubishi Pajero chassis, the tuner first faced the need to fabricate a stainless-steel frame for it to mount the panels on. He painted the frame and the chassis black and overlaid them with gorgeous-looking, chocolate-colored bodywork.

The cabin received the same treatment as the exterior, with a wooden center console, seats with intricate ornaments, wooden door cards and a matching dashboard. Everything here does its best G-Class impression, and it’s definitely good enough for bragging rights.

Other than that, the car is a stock Pajero. As such, it is probably slower on the uptake than the original due to all the added weight.

If you want a full project timelapse from start to finish, check out ND – Woodworking Art on YouTube for the 40-minute video. On a fun side note, the carpenter claims that the idea for this project came to him after a Mercedes driver splashed him with water as he was riding his bike home. Harboring a grudge, he decided to cobble together a Merc of his own to stay safe from such incidents.
