Brabus’ beefiest S-Class ever sprints 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds

The Brabus 930 is an extremely tuned Mercedes- AMG S 63 E Performance packing 930 metric horsepower under the hood. It costs more than twice as much as the base car, but makes up for it with a serious performance boost.

In its range-topping guise, the S-Class combines its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for 802 PS (791 hp / 590 kW) and 1,430 Nm (1,055 lb-ft). That’s plenty as it is, but the German tuner adds a custom turbocharger setup to the mix along with some other improvements, such as a valve-controlled exhaust system.

As a result, the car sends 930 PS (917 hp / 684 kW) and 1,510 Nm (1,114 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds – one-tenth of a second faster than stock – but hits its electronic speed limiter at the usual 290 km/h (180 mph). An optional ride control unit can be ordered to reduce the ground clearance by a further 10 mm (0.4”).

A number of new aerodynamic parts serve to improve drag and downforce. These include a front bumper trim, air intake inlets, a rear spoiler and a rear diffuser. Aside from suppressing upward forces, the parts improve overall cooling efficiency, Brabus claims. Elsewhere, the tuning program provides for new 22-inch forged wheels and a completely overhauled interior with luxury-grade leather and carbon fiber throughout.

The pricing details aren’t available, but Brabus is currently selling two demo cars like this one. They are basically identical except for the leather trim color and cost €480,000 and €490,000, respectively. For comparison, an entry-level Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance will set you back €208,000 in Germany.
