Meet MG Mulan, an electric hatchback for China and Europe

SAIC-owned car marque MG has unveiled a new electric car set to reach the markets of China and Europe soon. Distilled from the EH32 and CyberE concepts, the model will be known as ‘Mulan’ worldwide.

The MG Mulan comes based on the Nebula platform and is 4,287 mm x 1,836 mm x 1,516 mm large with 2,705 mm between the axles. This puts it into the same category as the Volkswagen ID.3.

The only spec revealed so far has a single motor mounted on the rear axle and driving the wheels with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). The hatchback reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds. The manufacturer doesn’t mention it, but a dual-motor spec or two will most likely join the lineup later.

As for the range, the company estimates it at 600 kilometers, or 373 miles. The traction battery pack is very compact at 1,690 mm long, 1,300 mm wide and between 110 and 140 mm tall, depending on your chosen power capacity. The gravity center lies within mere 490 millimeters from the ground, and the per-axle weight balance is a perfect 50/50.

Prices are pending, but media in China believe they will not cross the 200,000 Yuan mark (€28,400).
