2023 MG Hector develops a stronger sense of self

Automaker MG made its debut on the car market of India with a crossover SUV named Hector in 2019. Back then, the model was little more than a rebadged Baojun 530 for China. A planned update is now coming for it to make it stand out more from its twin.

The new MG Hector boasts a larger radiator grille, new headlights and taillights, and revised bumpers. The cabin also looks different with a redesigned dashboard, new door panel trim, seat upholstery and transmission tunnel styling. The top trims now benefit from a 14-inch vertical infotainment display.

As far as options are concerned, customers may go for adaptive cruise control, smart turn indicators activating when steering left or right at slower speeds, and other handy electronic assists.

Things stay stock under the hood, where a 1.5-liter petrol engine pushes out 143 PS (141 hp / 105 kW) for a five-speed manual gearbox of a CVT to deliver to the wheels. As an alternative, you could go for a larger diesel and get 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW). The transmission is going to be six-speed manual in this case.
