MG Cyberster gets a historical special edition

MG, a car badge currently owned by SAIC Motor in China, has launched a limited edition of its Cyberster EV to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its British ancestor. Only 100 roadsters like this will be made in total.

Starting with the exterior, it combines a beige main color with a roof offset in red. The company claims it is an homage to multiple MG brand classics from decades ago. Based on its social media posts, it looks like the MGA, the MGB and the Magnette sedan were all used as sources of inspiration.

Powertrain-wise, you get two electric motors driving the front and the rear axle with 150 and 250 kW, respectively. The combined output sums up to 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) and 725 Nm (535 lb-ft) of torque. The standard sprint time is stated as 3.2 seconds.

CATL provides the Cyberster with a 77-kWh traction battery that’s enough for 520 km (323 miles) of CLTC-rated driving range. The car is priced at 365,800 Yuan, or U.S. $51,500.

The standard roadster debuted last August and went on sale in China in November (see video). Buyers have Glamour Edition, Style Edition and Pioneer Edition to choose from, priced from 319,800 to 359,800 Yuan ($45,000–50,700). Unlike the anniversary edition, these can be optioned with just one electric motor instead of two, CnEVPost reports.
