Check out a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo styled like a rally racer

A three-door, road-legal Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is on sale with the bidding currently at £26,000. The seller claims the company only produced around 60 SUVs finished in red with automatic transmission; the total production run exceeded 2,500 units.

Mitsubishi originally intended to produce the Evolution series to homologate its Dakar Rally prototype. To that end, it endowed the car with widened flares, a hood with an air intake, a novel spoiler and new bumpers. Recaro seats and a sports steering wheel made it into the cabin.

Elsewhere, the car boasts independent suspension, widened track and recalibrated steering. It comes with standard-spec 16-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires. A 3.5-liter V6 under the hood makes 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) in tandem with a five-speed auto gearbox and drives all four wheels.

This particular SUV is a Japanese spec imported into the UK in 2019. Aftermarket mods include a new radio and steering wheel trim, among other minor things. The odometer shows around 135,000 km (84,000 miles) of use.
