Mitsubishi Triton Raider hits the outback Down Under

Mitsubishi has united efforts with Premcar to introduce a special edition of its Triton pickup for the Australian market. Robust off-road suspension, undercarriage protection and custom wheels turn it into a capable overlanding vehicle while keeping the engine intact.

On the outside, the modded Triton boasts a vivid red skid plate, a chrome badge on the radiator grille, a dark grey trim in the lower bumper area, and special graphics all around. You can see more protection added at the sides as well, and there’s a sport bar in the bed.

Inside, the trim uses black leather with orange stitching for contrast. Raider emblems can be found on the center console and the seat headrests. Everything else corresponds to the rich Triton GSR spec.

Power for the four wheels comes from a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed automatic.

For the chassis upgrades, Premcar mentions purpose-designed front shocks with built-in rebound springs, improved front suspension springs, and new travel limiters. Once everything is installed, the pickup gets 25 mm (1 inch) of extra ground clearance in the front, 15 mm (0.6 inches) in the back, and 20 mm (0.8 inches) of added track width.

Sales start next month, with the starting price being currently estimated at 75,000 AUD, or 53,000 USD.
