Shoddily built BMW 335i pickup can be yours for cheap

Überblick
The Opel Insignia is scheduled to go out of production later this year, with a crossover-like successor set to replace it in 2024 or later.
By stopping the production, the company mostly aims to free up more industrial capacities at its Russelsheim factory. Opel needs to be able to assemble more Astra and DS4 models there, which are based on the same platform.
Another reason for the discontinuation is the fact that the Insignia is too old for electrification. The chassis it comes based upon does not allow for it, and R&D costs for upgrading it would be prohibitively high. Opel had has stated multiple times before that it was committed to the idea of full-on electrification.
According to the company’s earlier statements, all of its currently produced cars would have electrified or all-electric counterparts by 2024 or so. This means we can expect a successor to the Insignia by that date.
In earlier news, we reported that the German automaker might revive the car in a minivan-like crossover body to secure demand.
