Peugeot is getting ready to premiere the next-gen 408 model in Europe, giving it a coupe-like crossover SUV body. China will be getting a car with the same name on June 8, but Autohome.cn claims it is going to be a sedan.
The teaser sketches show a vehicle whose front end looks similar to that of its European cousin, despite major differences elsewhere. The bezel-free radiator grille with a 3D patten, the large badge and the model index on the hood cover are all present.
At the same time, the China-spec Peugeot 408 gets different, edgier headlamps and massive fang-like DRLs not unlike those found on other recent Peugeot vehicles. It also sports new a taillight pattern and a rear spoiler built into the tailgate.
Interior additions include a squared-off steering wheel and a couple of displays for the dash gauges and the multimedia. The rest of our gallery here shows photos of the current generation for comparison purposes.
There are no technical details available at this time. We expect the new 408 for China to come based on the same platform as the latest 308 model, and probably the same engines. too.
