Another Porsche 911 electromod hits the road

U.S. car restorer Kindred Motorworks has unveiled its vision of an electrified Porsche 911 classic. It packs 380 PS at the rear wheels, has a near-perfect per-axle weight distribution and runs far on a single charge.

The donor vehicle is any Porsche 911 made from 1974 through 1989. Kindred swaps it to a single rear-axle electric motor producing the aforementioned 380 PS (375 hp / 280 kW) along with 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The tuner hasn’t disclosed any sprint times, but we’d imagine the restomod being significantly faster with around double the power of your average 911 from the eighties.

The battery pack holds 62.2 kilowatt-hours of charge and takes advantage of a 400V power architecture for faster charging. It is also laid out in such a manner as to ensure a 40:60 front/rear weight distribution for the entire car. Kindred promises “sharper response” and “more predictable handling” alongside with a strong drivetrain that only “enhances the car’s character” without rendering it uncontrollable.

For the interior, available options include a modern infotainment system with wire-free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, climate control and Nappa leather upholstery, just to name a few. The exterior remains to be revealed in its full glory. The company promises to publish a full list of available finishes and aero kit parts in August.

Only 12 such electromods will be made and offered starting from $299,000.
