New Ram truck is an old CDM Peugeot in disguise

Stellantis is expanding its Ram truck lineup in for South America with a new model called the 1200. According to Autocosmos quoting materials leaked from a dealership, it’s actually just a rebadged Peugeot Landtrek originally co-designed with Changan for the domestic market of China. Here are its first leaked photos and specs.

The light truck will allegedly utilize a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 210 PS (207 hp / 154 kW) and 306 Nm (226 lb-ft) of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between six-speed manual and six-speed automatic, but AWD will only be available at the top trim level.

Unlike the Landtrek, the Ram 1200 will go on sale in a wider variety of trims and cab configurations, including two-door and four-door options. There will be affordable variants for commercial use and souped-up sporty trucks for active leisure enthusiasts, Autocosmos says.

All production will take place in China. The pickup is expected to go on sale in Mexico in 2025, where it will compete against the likes of Toyota Hilux and Nissan Frontier.
