Facelifted Renault Megane RS gets spotted in Spain

The current generation of the Renault Megane RS has been around since December 2017, but it seems like a mid-generational refresh will be coming soon.

The slightly retouched and barely cladded hot hatch was photographed in Spain. The scope of changes seems slight even by facelift standards: the headlights sport new LEDs, the DRL ‘eyelashes’ now have a different shape, and there are dual-tone wheels.

The cabin remains a bit of a mystery right now. We would expect an updated digital dashboard, an R-Link multimedia with a 9.3-inch display, and a few extra driver aids.

Powertrain improvements are highly unlikely, given how well the model performs as is. The 1.8-liter, turbo-four engine delivers up to 280 hp (209 kW) and 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) in its most basic version, and goes up to 300 hp (224 kW) and 400-420 Nm (295 – 310 lb-ft) in the Trophy and Trophy-R variants. Available transmissions include six-speed manual and EDC auto.

As for the premiere, it might even happen as soon as the IAA Frankfurt 2019 (September 12-22).
