The Rolls-Royce Spectre is an EV many will charge once per month

The first fully electric Rolls-Royce – the Spectre – has obtained a range certificate in the United States. Apparently, the car is only good for 420 km (261 miles) per charge, but CarBuzz points out that owners may end up charging it once per month or so.

The truth is that luxury vehicle owners choose from multiple vehicles whenever they go out – a minimum of seven in most cases – so the mileage is shared between them. The British luxury automaker has calculated that the average owner travels no more than 5,000 km (3,100 miles) in any given Rolls-Royce. Therefore, modest range does not pose an issue.

The company will be shipping the Spectre with an 11kW home charger that will replenish the car’s 102kWh battery in 11 hours or so. According to a Rolls Royce representative in the United States as quoted by CarBuzz, the marque will offer installation services for these home chargers and plans to strike an agreement with one of the nationwide charging networks to enable unlimited free charging of Spectre vehicles.
