Acura keeps us thrilled about the upcoming NSX Type S, and it looks like we have proof that the sports car will offer considerably more engine thrust than the base model.
Specific numbers aren’t discussed yet, but a social media caption for the latest video claims the new Type S goes ‘Faster Than Ever’. The video itself briefly focuses on the upper half of the engine and transitions to a blacked-out silhouette of the NSX, all along playing a rich V6 turbo soundtrack in the background.
In what way could the Type S be faster than the regular NSX? There are a few options. First, it could be able to accelerate to a higher top speed than the stock model. Second, it could bridge the 100-200 km/h (62 – 124 mph) gap faster. Third. it could pack more raw horsepower, which would then translate into numerous improvements across the board.
According to an earlier rumor, the Acura NSX Type S would have 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) at the crank, a sizable upgrade over the current 580 PS (572 hp / 427 kW). Whether true or not, we should soon learn the truth as the car debuts at the Monterey Car Week in California on August 12, 2021.
